A hill becomes a home
EM{BED}DED
CONCEPT
EM{BED}DED explores the extension of a unique topographical site condition into and through a living space. The project choreographs a transition away from the street fabric, allowing for inhabitants to enjoy the restorative qualities of nature in isolation. Rather than sitting atop the steep hill, the home is EM{BED}DED into the earth, becoming apart of the wild landscape. The primary intention of the circulation path is to create a "hike" through the house while simultaneously creating carefully designed "clearings" where beautiful views of nature are framed along the way.

SITE MODEL
Chipboard site model shows the orientation of the project in its site parcel as well as in relation to its surrounding context and the key moment of tension between the two main project volumes.
Site Location
The project site sits on the edge of Highland Park in Roxbury Crossing, MA. It currently exists as an unoccupied lot on an extremely steep slope. It is nestled in a neighborhood consisting mostly of 3-4 story residences.
